My name is Cherise Arzaga and I am a licensed clinical social worker in California (LCSW# 74795).

I specialize in working with clients who struggle with anxiety, depression, grief and loss, and relationship issues. Clients see me as a therapist who understands the unique pressures of individuals who find it difficult to take action.

Sometimes not taking action highlights the familiarity in your situation, although it can be life interfering and soul-sucking. You might be a child of immigrant parents navigating various identities and juggling multiple roles, adjusting to parenthood, feeling stagnant or burnt out in your professional career, healing from a broken relationship or experiencing grief, suffering from imposter syndrome, or … you name it! We can find ways to help you make changes.

My practice has a special commitment to nurturing the inherent strengths and confidence in a person to change distressing patterns and create growth. Some sessions I will actively listen in, others I will take the lead, but my goal is to create a safe, non-judgmental space for us to work collaboratively through unresolved feelings and patterns and heal from past losses, traumas, and/or anticipatory anxiety to live a more authentic life now.

I’m trained in various evidence-based treatments and integrate a holistic approach guiding clients to make choices that align best with their goals. Depending on the type of treatment goals you have and/or our identified therapy intervention, this may change over time but we’ll work through it together to make sure treatment is tailored to your goals.

I look forward to the privilege of working with you in therapy.

“Talking to a therapist … you can confide in them, they help you because they have no stakes in it … I now know that I am always going to be seeing a therapist for the rest of my life. I truly value therapy and I thank Cherise for that.”

Radical Gratitude Spell

A spell to cast upon meeting a stranger, comrade or friend working for social and/or environmental justice and liberation.

you are a miracle walking

i greet you with wonder

in a world which seeks to own

your joy and imagination

you have chosen to be free,

every day, as a practice.

i can never know

the struggles you went through to get here,

but i know you have swum upstream

and at times it has been lonely

i want you to know

i honor the choices you made in solitude

and i honor the work you have done to

belong

i honor your commitment to that which is

larger than yourself

and your journey

to love the particular container of life

that is you

you are enough

your work is enough

you are needed

your work is sacred

you are here

and i am grateful
